FMCG-major Britannia Industries has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government. The FMCG firm will invest Rs550cr in the state for building a Total Foods Company.
On Wednesday, Britannia stock surged by as much as 1.5% with an intraday high of Rs3801.15 per piece. However, at around 1.49 PM, the stock has corrected and was trading at Rs3771 per piece up 0.70% on Sensex.
Britannia tweeted saying, "Britannia is proud to announce the signing of an MoU with the Govt of Tamil Nadu as a next step towards building a Total Foods Company. This partnership will pave the way for growth in consumer demand & contribute towards building our economy."
The company will develop its business in Gangaikondan and Tirunelveli districts in Tamil Nadu. Further, Britannia is set to generate employment 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
